Junior Conservator

Job Summary

AX Construction is currently looking for a Junior Conservator to join the Restoration Division.The successful candidate will support the Conservator and contribute towards the implementation of the Company restoration works with particular reference to the stone artefacts.

Responsibilities:

  • Following the programme of works set by the Conservator;
  • Assist the Conservator to procure materials and equipment to use for restoration, conservation and maintenance works;
  • Identify weakness and deterioration in stone artefacts and draw the attention of the Conservator
    immediately for direction and action;
  • Carry out restoration works on stone and gilding;
  • Carry out photographic and graphic documentation;
  • Ensure that work is only carried out in the manner and fashion directed by the Conservator;
  • Ensure that the health and safety standards are always adherent to legal and Company standards;
  • Attend placements or activities connected with the trade to enhance experience and competence;
  • Be responsible for maintaining a high level of organisation and cleanliness in the restoration site;
  • Be responsible for the employees on site;
  • Assist the conservator in monitoring of the artefact and other related works which may arise from time to time;
  • Requirements:

  • Minimum of MQF Level 4 qualification in stone conservation;
  • Relevant experience in the practice of restoration of stone artefacts;
  • Knowledge of the use of materials and technology related to stone restoration interventions;
  • English Competencies as primary language to be used at work;
  • Portfolio of previous works;
  • Dependability Initiative;
  • The job requires being reliable, responsible, and attaining the expected results;
