A Construction Career Can Be The Right Job For You
Let’s Meet and Discuss What We Have To Offer
Come at the AX Recruitment Day on the 18th and 19th of May, at The Hilltop Gardens Naxxar, from 09.00 till 13.00hrs, to know more what AX Group #AXConstruction has to offer! Over the years I have worked both in the public and private sector in Administration and Human Resources.
For the last two and a half years, I have been managing the human resources at AX Construction, a very challenging, interesting and volatile market indeed!
AX Construction, known for constructing, developing and managing complex projects, started operations in the ’70s, led by Mr Angelo Xuereb, now the Chairman of one of the largest group of companies in Malta. In the last decade, his daughter, Ms Denise Micallef Xuereb, was successfully at the helm, who practically grew up on construction sites, I would not imagine her elsewhere!
We took care of landmark projects on the island such as the restoration of St Paul’s Catacombs, the super-structure of the new Parliament Building, the Valletta Waterfront, the amazing steelworks at is-Suq tal-Belt, auberges, signature offices and factories around the island. Currently, we are working on the extension of the visitor’s centre of St John’s Cathedral and the ongoing rehabilitation of the old Farson’s Brewery House among others, with a number of exciting projects coming up in the next months. Needless to say, AX Construction, needs skilled workforce and experts in civil engineering and restoration fields, ranging from steelworkers and shutterers, masons, drivers, restorers, quantity surveyors, draughts persons, architects, project managers, and other staff members to complement our employees on site and at the office.
There are employees who have been with the company for a number of years and have gone up the ranks following their commitment, loyalty and hard work. Mr Chris Micallef, today the Operations Manager at AXC, started as an apprentice 26 years ago! I feel that I owe my experience and knowledge to the company. Being my first job, it came with its challenges but that only helped in building up a strong personality. I don’t consider going to work as a necessity. It feels like going home – Chris says.
Today the company is growing exponentially, nearly doubling its workforce in the last couple of months. This is mainly due to the success in managing to attain projects of considerable value, also by having gained a reputation of employing the required skilled workforce that can deliver on time and to the highest standards. There is never a dull moment at AXC, our workforce is multinational, meaning diversity and culture play an important role in our day-to-day operations, this helps to keep the momentum exciting and staff stay focused and passionate about their job, whether it is the restoration of a heritage building or a commercial development! Accountability and responsibility are key.
