Job Summary
The Registered Nurse is responsible for delivering the highest standard of nursing care, addressing the comprehensive needs of residents. This role involves the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of individualized care plans. The nurse collaborates with physicians and the multidisciplinary team, while providing physical and psychological support to residents, their families, and staff members. Additionally, the role includes supervision and mentorship of assigned team members.
Responsibilities
- Checking and recording vital signs like blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration rate.
- Reporting any unusual findings to the nursing staff for further assessment.
- Building rapport with patients, offering companionship, and providing a comforting presence.
- Listening to patients' concerns and relaying important feedback to nurses and team leaders.
- Documenting patient care activities, observations, and any changes in condition.
- Reporting patient concerns or complaints, and any physical or emotional changes, to the healthcare team.
- Helping nurses with tasks like dressing changes, administering medications.
- Promptly responding to patient call lights or alarms to assist with needs.
- Reacting quickly in emergencies by notifying appropriate medical personnel and providing necessary assistance.
- Communicating with patients' families, providing them with updates, and answering questions within their scope of knowledge.
- Patient Care and Hygiene
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a care home, specifically working with elderly, long-term, and post-operative residents.
- Experience in managing chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, and musculoskeletal diseases. Additional experience in dementia care is an asset.
- MQF Level 4 qualification in healthcare.
- Extensive knowledge of nursing care methods and procedures.
- Familiarity with emergency care protocols.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
