Responsibilities:
- Assist the Executive Chef in supervising the functioning of the kitchen employees, facilities, and costs to ensure the maximum food and beverage departmental profit
- Provide ongoing assistance to the Executive Chef in controlling and analyzing the following areas and ensure optimum performance.
- Quality levels of production and presentation including the employee restaurant.
- Guest satisfaction.
- Payroll and food costs
- Cleanliness, sanitation and hygiene
- Assist the Executive Chef in the production, preparation and presentation of all food items to ensure highest quality at all times.
- Establish and maintain effective employee relations and interdepartmental working relationships.
- Assist, under the guidance of the Executive Head Chef, with any employee relation matters
- Assist in the preparation of menus and the pricing policy, in consultation with the Executive Chef
- Assist in liaising with the Purchasing Officer to determine the minimum food par stocks. Ensure the completion of the market list in accordance with quality and quantity standards.
- Inspect all food items received for quality.
Requirements:
- Culinary degree or equivalent certification from a recognized culinary institution; preference will be given to ITS graduates.
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef at a 4*/5* star hotel
- Experience in both a la carte and buffet operations.
- Excellent level of both written and spoken English language
- Strong culinary skills and a passion for creating innovative and flavorful dishes.
- Excellent leadership abilities, with the ability to motivate and inspire kitchen staff.
- Knowledge of kitchen operations, food safety protocols, and sanitation practices.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment and maintain composure under stress.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate and work well with others.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
