Internship Summary
The AX Hotels internship program is designed to provide the student with an understanding of the various hospitality functions and hands-on experience. The program includes a rotation within chosen internship department, allowing the student to recognize the main functions of chosen hospitality discipline and to experience the inter-dependencies of various disciplines.

Food and Beverage:
- Kitchen
- Rooms Division (Supervisory)
- Front Office
- Concierge

Responsibilities:
- Food and Beverage
- Greeting and hosting guests
- La Carte service
- Buffet service
- Function set-ups
- Room service
Kitchen:
- Food preparation
- Taking care of section
- On job shadowing
- Buffet preparation
- Buffet service
Rooms Division (Supervisory):
- Making up and cleaning rooms when needed
- Supervising the laundry room
- Supervising the public areas
- Checking of rooms for upkeep of hotel standards
- Issuing daily reports
Front Office:
- General administration duties
- Work on the Opera system
- Check in procedures
- Check out procedures
- Handling telephone calls
Concierge:
- Greeting and welcoming guests on arrival
- Assisting to guest needs
- Taking up luggage to the guests’ room
- Answering the phone
- Taking care of the lobby (reception) area
Reservations:
- General administration duties
- Work on the Opera system
- Inputting reservations data
- Checking arrivals
- Checking departures
Events:
- General administration duties
- Updating client database
- Research on new contacts
- Preparation for functions
- Checking of function set-ups
Sales:
- General administration duties
- Updating client database
- Answering the phone and taking messages
- Sending emails to companies
- Preparing reports at the end of the day
Marketing:
- General administration duties
- Typing contracts for Sales; sending them to clients; following up on them for signatures
- Daily postings of Food and Beverage profiles
- Checking and handling daily e-mails
- Assisting in photoshoots
Purchasing & Stores:
- General administration duties
- Inputting of invoices and requisitions
- Handling stores & stacking items
- Incoming & Outgoing records
- Preparing & Issuing departmental requisitions
Accounts:
- General administration duties
- Creditor reconciliations
- Inputting invoices
- Inventory
- Compiling lists of companies
IT:
- General administration duties
- Responding to user requests for service
- Troubleshooting problems and helping develop solutions
- Performing minor repairs to equipment
- Support desktop operating system software
Human Resources:
- General administration duties
- Updating personal files
- Updating employee data base
- Preparing templates
- Checking of weekly departmental timesheets and clockings
Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 to 6 months internship duration (depending on department)
- B1 level of spoken English (Intermediate)
- Candidate must be eligible to work in Malta and must also be available for an interview
