Job Summary
AX Construction is looking for a self-motivated, highly organized and results-driven person who will be responsible to manage the company’s business activities, lead a team of experienced managers, as well as direct and manage resources deliver superior results for which AX Construction is well known.
The General Manager duties will include developing and implementing growth strategies, allocating budget resources, formulating policies, coordinating business operations, managing and motivating staff, managing operational costs, maintaining excellent levels of customer service, improving administration processes, engaging with vendors, identifying business opportunities, and monitoring financial performance. The General Manager will have entrepreneurial spirit and vision in directing business functions which will assist our organization in maintaining relationships with clients, generating new business, increasing staff productivity, improving service, ensuring sustainability, and meeting business objectives.
The successful candidate for this role should possess excellent communication skills, superior knowledge of the Construction business, exceptional budgeting and financial analytical skills, and strong leadership qualities. The General Manager will be accountable for all business activities, support staff development, enhance efficiency, improve revenue streams, maintain relationships with clients, enhance the organization’s image, and meet overall growth objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Define long-term strategic goals and developing clear plans to implement them.
- Apply strategic planning to determine company, department or unit objectives.
- Manage all business operations, processes and systems.
- Researching and identifying growth opportunities.
- Developing and implementing growth strategies to support the company’s business objectives.
- Prepare budgets, review project expenditure, deliver revenues and profitability as per budgets.
- Evaluating and managing performance and productivity through KPIs.
- Effective conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.
- Reviewing data (financial, sales and activity reports) to ascertain levels of profitability and suggesting potential improvements.
- Approve business expenditure based on data and critical thinking.
- Maintain on-going communication with heads of department concerning employee training and development, staff requirements, review of project timelines and progress, address issues affecting the business operations, discuss ideas and areas of improvement.
- Improving internal processes and ensuring employees work in a cohesive fashion.
- Identify, and monitor the process of selecting new clients and business opportunities.
- Managing contract creation, execution and analysis to maximize operational and financial performance, while reducing financial risk.
- Managing the tender process from initial stage up to submission.
- To perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Company.
Requirements:
- A degree in Business Management or comparable relevant degree.
- Experience within the Construction industry.
- The ability to delegate responsibilities to appropriate people within the organisation.
- The ability to coordinate duties within an organisation or within individual departments.
- Proven ability to suggest and implement process improvements.
- Experience of coaching employees and encouraging coaching within an organisation.
- Highly developed decision-making skills.
- Experience in managing quality of service, including experience in cultivating and maintaining high level of customer service and an understanding of the customer experience.
- Meticulous with a high level of attention to detail.
- Experience of managing performance within a business environment.
- A positive attitude and the ability to work with people in a constructive manner.
- Comfortable in a fast paced and dynamic environment
