Job Summary
AX Construction is looking for a Mechanic. As the Head Mechanic in our company, you will lead and manage a team of mechanics responsible for maintaining and repairing our fleet of construction equipment and vehicles. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the smooth operation and optimal performance of our equipment by implementing effective maintenance strategies, coordinating repairs, and providing technical guidance to the team. You will play a vital role in ensuring the reliability and safety of our equipment on construction sites.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a team of mechanics, providing technical guidance, training, and support.
- Develop and implement effective maintenance schedules and strategies for construction equipment and vehicles.
- Oversee the repair and maintenance of a diverse range of construction machinery, including excavators, loaders, bulldozers, and trucks.
- Diagnose complex mechanical issues and provide technical expertise to troubleshoot and resolve problems efficiently.
- Coordinate with equipment operators, project managers, and procurement team to ensure timely repairs and minimize equipment downtime.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment maintenance and repairs, including parts used, labor hours, and costs.
- Source and order necessary parts and materials, maintain inventory levels and control costs.
- Stay updated with industry trends, new technologies, and advancements in construction equipment maintenance.
- Foster a safe work environment, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and promoting a culture of safety within the team.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a mechanic, with a strong background in construction equipment maintenance and repair.
- Proven leadership and managerial skills, with experience in leading a team of mechanics.
- Extensive knowledge of construction equipment, hydraulics, electrical systems, and diagnostics.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities with a focus on efficiency and accuracy.
- Proficient in using diagnostic tools and software to identify and resolve mechanical issues.
- Solid understanding of safety practices and regulations in the construction industry.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to effectively interact with team members and stakeholders.
- Experience with fleet management software or maintenance management systems will be an advantage.
- High school diploma or equivalent. Additional technical or vocational training is a plus.
- Fluent in English
