Job Summary
AX Hotels Sliema is looking for a Head of Stores. The successful candidate must have an outgoing personality and a can-do attitude as well as possess excellent leadership and communication skills.
Responsibilities:
- Order all items against written purchase requests.
- Order items from suppliers as directed by the Head of Procurement.
- Order against definite specifications such as quality and weight, and ensure that these specifications conform to the hotels’ standards.
- Compare purchase prices regularly with price lists and price levels of other suppliers.
- Ensure that adequate stocks are kept as per the established hotel per stock levels.
- Participate in stock takings of all items periodically.
- Lead by example and stress attention to detail and efficient service.
- Manage the Stores team and monitor their performance constantly.
- Control and direct any suppliers or visitors at the premises.
- Keep adequate records of purchase prices for each item regularly purchased.
- Maintain a monthly price index of the main commodities purchased.
- Inform management immediately of any item that has increased substantially in price.
- Prepare monthly, and changes in purchase prices list.
- Directly purchase direct and deliver to the hotels, items which are required urgently, always with the General Manager’s approval.
- Perform any other work as directed by the general Manager.
Requirements:
- A good standard of education.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role.
- Fluency in English language (spoken and written).
- Computer literate.
- Previous experience working with hotel systems will be considered an asset.
- Able to make decisions and lead a team of subordinates.
- Able to work on their initiative.
- Confident in negotiating prices and attending meetings.
- Be willing to work in all areas of stores, issuing purchase orders and assisting in surveilling the goods receiving area.
- Candidate must be residing in Malta.
