Head of Stores

Job Summary

AX Hotels Sliema is looking for a Head of Stores. The successful candidate must have an outgoing personality and a can-do attitude as well as possess excellent leadership and communication skills.

Responsibilities:

• Order all items against written purchase requests.
• Order items from suppliers as directed by the Head of Procurement.
• Order against definite specifications such as quality and weight, and ensure that these specifications conform to the hotels’  standards.
• Compare purchase prices regularly with price lists and price levels of other suppliers.
• Ensure that adequate stocks are kept as per the established hotel per stock levels.
• Participate in stock takings of all items periodically.
• Lead by example and stress attention to detail and efficient service.
• Manage the Stores team and monitor their performance constantly.
• Control and direct any suppliers or visitors at the premises.
• Keep adequate records of purchase prices for each item regularly purchased.
• Maintain a monthly price index of the main commodities purchased.
• Inform management immediately of any item that has increased substantially in price.
• Prepare monthly, and changes in purchase prices list.
• Directly purchase direct and deliver to the hotels, items which are required urgently, always with the General Manager’s approval.
• Perform any other work as directed by the general Manager.

Requirements:

• A good standard of education.
• A minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role.
• Fluency in English language (spoken and written).
• Computer literate.
• Previous experience working with hotel systems will be considered an asset.
• Able to make decisions and lead a team of subordinates.
• Able to work on their initiative.
• Confident in negotiating prices and attending meetings.
• Be willing to work in all areas of stores, issuing purchase orders and assisting in surveilling the goods receiving area.
• Candidate must be residing in Malta.
