Job Summary
We are looking for a highly motivated, meticulous and responsible team player with strong leadership skills to join the Finance Department at Head Office. The selected candidate shall assist the Group Reporting Manager in running the department and will be primarily responsible in preparing the monthly management accounts of the parent company and other entities falling under the responsibility of Head Office finance team.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and direct finance team members to ensure effective performance and task completion.
- Perform general accounting duties including accurate data entry and record maintenance.
- Prepare monthly management accounts, reconciliations, and various financial reports as required.
- Assist in the preparation and compilation of budgets, forecasts, and other financial documentation.
- Review and verify the accuracy of monthly payroll computation reports.
- Support the annual audit process by preparing audit files and liaising with external auditors to meet established timelines.
- Prepare and submit VAT returns and other statutory financial reports as directed.
- Monitor and plan cash flow to ensure timely fulfillment of financial commitments.
- Oversee departmental operations and proactively resolve issues as they arise.
- Identify opportunities to improve and automate existing financial systems and processes to enhance efficiency.
- Seek guidance from superiors when necessary and maintain open communication on matters requiring direction.
- Ensure strict confidentiality of all financial information and records.
- Motivate finance staff and support their professional development and training initiatives.
- Address and manage miscellaneous financial inquiries from other units within AX Group
Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role
- Degree in Accountancy and/or ACCA qualification (or currently pursuing ACCA)
- Smart, mature, and professional demeanor
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
- Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Excellent organizational skills, with strong verbal and written communication abilities
- Fluent in both Maltese and English
- Willingness to work flexible hours
- Previous experience in a similar position will be considered an asset
