Job Summary
AX Group is seeking an experienced and strategic General Manager to lead AX Development, driving the successful delivery of all property development and construction projects. The selected candidate will oversee multidisciplinary teams, ensuring projects are executed efficiently, safely, and to the highest standards of quality and compliance.
This senior leadership role will shape AX Group’s long-term development strategy, foster innovation, sustainability, and excellence while maintaining strong collaboration across engineering, architecture, finance, procurement, and external partners.
Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic direction and leadership for AX Development in alignment with AX Group’s objectives.
- Oversee all stages of project development and construction—from concept and design through execution and handover.
- Lead, mentor, and develop multidisciplinary teams, promoting collaboration and accountability.
- Ensure adherence to Maltese building regulations, planning policies, and health & safety standards.
- Manage project budgets, financial controls, and cost efficiency across multiple projects.
- Act as the main liaison with clients, contractors, suppliers, and regulatory authorities.
- Identify and mitigate project risks, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
- Drive adoption of digital tools and innovative construction practices to improve efficiency and quality.
- Prepare and maintain accurate documentation, progress reports, and executive updates.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in one of the following disciplines: Civil Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management.
- Warrant to Practice (Ing. / Perit) in Malta is highly desirable.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in construction and development, including 2 years in a leadership role.
- Proven track record in managing large-scale, complex development projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction principles, materials, and project management methodologies.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Solid financial acumen and experience managing project budgets.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools.
- Familiarity with Maltese construction laws, planning processes, and compliance standards.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
- Flexibility to work across various project sites in Malta.
