Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and proactive Maintenance Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of our hotel's maintenance department. In this role, you will ensure all facilities, equipment, and systems are well-maintained, safe, and operating efficiently. Your expertise will contribute directly to delivering a seamless and exceptional experience for our guests while supporting a smooth, high-quality hotel operation.
Responsibilities
- To ensure a safe, well-maintained hotel where everything functions as it should and where all maintenance and power costs are within budgeted controls.
- To ensure efficient preventative maintenance procedures at all times, and a quick reaction to maintenance requirements from guests and staff.
- Ensures effective security and controls within the department, to ensure purchases and their storage are in compliance with company policy.
- Maintains and enforces the hotel's protection and energy saving policies.
- Ensures a continual flow of water and power at the most economical level and monitors consumption levels compared to budgets and recommends methods for effecting savings.
- Ensures that technical drawings, certificates and records are current and properly filed.
- Leads by example, stressing attention to detail, a high standard of finish, attentive and personal service to guests, sales awareness and personal initiative.
- Co-operates and co-ordinates with all other departments especially housekeeping, front of house and food and beverage, ensures that all maintenance requirements are treated promptly and to correct standards.
- Ensures that the building plant and equipment are maintained to their full life expectancy.
- Establishes service quality standards for the department, which accurately reflect what happens in the day to day work situations.
- Guides the maintenance staff into a highly skilled and flexible team in which each individual member is well trained, properly managed and highly motivated.
- Ensures total safety at the place of work where all maintenance matters are concerned, particularly during repairs, and after modifications are carried out.
- Be aware and involved in the fire evacuation and security procedures, and ensures that firefighting and any other emergency equipment is periodically checked and maintained in good working order.
- Maintains a good working relationship with all Managers and Heads of Departments.
- Comply with Company Grooming Standards.
- Comply with Time and Attendance Policies.
- Actively participate in training and development programs and maximize opportunities for self-development.
- Demonstrate service attributes in accordance with industry expectations and company standards including:
- maintain a high level of knowledge which affects the guest experience
- demonstrating a ‘service’ attitude
- taking appropriate action to resolve guest complaints
- Demonstrate understanding and awareness of all policies and procedures relating to Health and Hygiene
- Ensure all security incidents, accidents are always logged in a timely manner and brought to the attention of your manager.
- Co-operates with the team and members of management and be supportive and loyal to the company.
- Meets any other request given by the Hotel Manager, Operations Manager or the General Manager.
Requirements
- Fluent in spoken English
- Excellent communication skills
- Basic IT skills
- Capable to work on his/her own initiative
- Excellent grooming standards
- Previous experience in a similar maintenance role
- Excellent organizational skills and has a service-oriented attitude.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Able to perform manual tasks, including lifting and moving items.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role
