Job Summary
AX Group is seeking for a dedicated and motivated Health & Safety Officer to support its ongoing commitment to maintaining a safe, compliant, and sustainable workplace across all operations. The selected candidate will be responsible for implementing, monitoring, and continuously improving the organisation’s Health & Safety (H&S) policies and procedures in line with applicable legislation and industry best practices.
This role is crucial in promoting a positive and sustainable safety culture, supporting the organisation’s compliance with relevant legislation and fostering a culture of safety through effective communication and training.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, update, and communicate H&S policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with national and international H&S regulations.
- Promote a positive safety culture across the organisation.
- Conduct risk assessments, inspections, and audits, and follow up on corrective actions.
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and accidents, including root cause analysis.
- Maintain accurate safety records and prepare reports for senior management.
- Organise and deliver H&S training and ensure staff certifications are up to date.
- Support and coordinate site Health & Safety Representatives.
- Ensure proper maintenance and certification of PPE, lifting equipment, and safety systems.
- Liaise with relevant Occupational Health and Safety authorities when required.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance workplace safety and compliance.
Requirements:
- Be a citizen of Malta or of a country within the European Union, or residents of Malta having obtained the necessary permits for this purpose from the relevant authorities, as well as written confirmation that they are registered with Jobsplus from the same Agency
- MQF Level 5 (minimum 60 ECTS) qualification in Occupational Health & Safety or equivalent, recognised by MQRIC.
- Minimum of 2 years’ practical experience in an H&S role, preferably in a multi-site or group environment.
- Recognition as a Competent Person by the OHSA and listed on the official registry.
- Preference will be given to candidates holding NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent internationally recognised H&S certifications.
- Solid knowledge of H&S legislation, risk management, and compliance requirements.
- Strong communication, analytical, and training skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively across different departments and operations.
- Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities.
