Job Summary
The Senior Care Assistant plays a key leadership role within the care team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, person-centred care to residents. This position supports the Nurse, Team Leader, or Head of Care in overseeing daily care activities, mentoring junior staff, and ensuring compliance with care plans, politics, and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver and oversee personalized care, including support with bathing, dressing, feeding and mobility.
- Monitor residents 'health and well-being, promptly identifying and reporting any changes to the Nurse, Team Leader, or Head of Care.
- Lead, mentor and support care assistants to ensure the consistent delivery of high-quality care.
- Allocate daily tasks to care staff and ensure all duties are performed in accordance with individual care plans.
- Monitor and record residents `vital signs, including temperature, pulse, blood pressure and respiration.
- Administer prescribed treatments, excluding involvement in their preparation.
- Assist in the training and onboarding of new care staff by providing guidance, mentorship, and hanks-on training to enhance their skills and confidence.
- Perform basic nursing tasks that do no involve clinical judgment, including hygiene care, mobility support, and wound cleansing.
- Conduct refresher training sessions on care procedures and best practices to maintain high and well-being.
- Support the development, review, and ongoing update of individualized care plans tailored to each resident`s needs.
Requirements:
- MQF Level 4 in Health and Social Care or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum of 1-2 years experience in a care setting.
- Previous supervisory or senior carer experience is highly desirable.
- Experience working with elderly individuals, including those with dementia, is advantageous.
- Basic First Aid and Food Handling Certificate.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Sound knowledge of safeguarding, health and safety, infection control, and confidentiality.
- High attention to detail, dependable, and committed to responsibility.
