Job Summary

Join AX Hotels Qawra as Chief Engineer and lead the Engineering & Maintenance function for our landmark Phase Two development!

We are seeking a dynamic Chief Engineer to oversee all engineering operations, manage new hotel rooms and restaurant concepts, and ensure the highest standards of safety, sustainability, and guest experience.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee daily engineering and maintenance, ensuring optimal performance of all mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), HVAC, and building management systems. Lead preventive and corrective maintenance, compliance, and energy efficiency initiatives.
• Act as the primary engineering liaison for Phase Two, reviewing technical submissions, supporting design and cost planning, and coordinating contractors, consultants, and internal teams.
• Develop and execute engineering pre-opening plans, lead snagging and commissioning, and collaborate with all departments to ensure seamless operational handover.
• Mentor and develop the maintenance team, recruit and train staff, and foster a safety-driven culture in line with AX Hotels and local standards.
• Manage engineering budgets (OPEX, CAPEX), negotiate vendor contracts, and prepare reports on maintenance, project progress, and energy performance.

Requirements:

• Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Facilities Management, or related field.
• 7–10 years’ engineering leadership experience in hospitality, mixed-use, or large-scale commercial properties.
• Proven track record in construction or renovation projects, ideally hotel pre-opening.
• Strong knowledge of MEP, BMS, energy management, and safety regulations.
• Excellent project management, analytical, and communication skills.
• Proficiency with building management systems, maintenance software, and project management tools.
