Job Summary
AX Group is seeking a meticulous and analytically driven Quantity Surveyor to support AX Development, the department responsible for consolidating and advancing the Group’s activities within the development sector. The selected candidate will oversee the financial dimension of construction projects, ensuring robust cost management, accurate reporting, and effective budgetary control throughout the project lifecycle.
This role requires strong analytical capability, a sound understanding of construction processes, and close collaboration with project, commercial, and finance teams. The Quantity Surveyor will play a key part in informed decision‑making by providing precise cost data, identifying financial risks, and maintaining the highest standards of cost discipline across all development initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, maintain, and monitor project budgets from inception to completion.
- Prepare cost estimates, cost plans, cash flow forecasts, and financial projections and maintain accurate and up to date cost records: commitments, expenditures, and forecasts.
- Evaluate the cost impact of design changes, site instructions, and variations.
- Track actual costs against budgeted values and report variances utilizing monthly cost reports, dashboards, and variance analysis for management review.
- Provide financial input during project meetings and proactively identify cost overruns, recommending corrective actions as needed.
- Review subcontractor and supplier quotations for accuracy and alignment with project budgets and assist procurement team with cost evaluations.
- Support contract negotiations by providing cost benchmarks and financial insights.
- Verify supplier invoices, progress claims, and payment applications.
- Coordinate with project managers, quantity surveyors, and finance teams to Track contract commitments, variations, and change orders to ensure accurate cost allocation.
- Ensure all cost-related activities comply with financial procedures and audit requirements, while providing accurate documentation to support internal and external audits.
- Support project close out by preparing final cost reports and lessons learned.
Requirements:
- Preference given to those with 4+ years’ experience in cost control, cost management, or quantity surveying within the development/construction industry.
- Strong understanding of construction processes, cost drivers, and industry benchmarks.
- Proven experience in budget management, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in cost control software, and advanced MS Excel.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills.
- Ability to interpret construction drawings, BOQs, and technical specifications.
- Knowledge of cost coding structures, WBS, and financial control systems.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong communication and reporting abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple deadlines.
- Proactive problem-solving and risk-awareness mindset.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and organisational discipline.
