Mechanic

Job Summary

AX Construction is seeking a skilled mechanic to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of company vehicles, plant, and construction equipment. The role supports site operations by carrying out inspections, maintenance, and repairs that minimise downtime and keep equipment fully operational.

Responsibilities:

• Inspect mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems on vehicles and construction equipment to diagnose faults.
• Perform routine servicing, preventive maintenance, and corrective repairs in line with manufacturer and safety standards.
• Repair or replace defective components and carry out field repairs on site when required.
• Use diagnostic tools to identify issues, troubleshoot faults, and resolve problems efficiently to reduce downtime.
• Report recurring issues or potential failures to the Head Mechanic.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and workshop areas in safe, clean, and compliant condition.
• Record maintenance activities accurately and report completed work.
• Follow company health and safety procedures, use PPE at all times, and report unsafe conditions or incidents immediately.
• Support garage operations and assist the Head Mechanic as required.
• Perform other reasonable mechanical duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Minimum 3 years’ experience as a mechanic in a construction, industrial, or fleet environment.
• ​Experience with heavy vehicles, plant, or construction equipment.
• ​Trade qualification or proven hands‑on mechanical repair experience.
• ​Willingness to work on site and respond to operational needs.
• ​Already residing in Malta.
