Job Summary
AX Verdala Wellness & Spa is looking for a skilled and motivated Junior Sous Chef to support the daily operation of our kitchen. In this role, you will work closely with the culinary team to help keep service running smoothly and ensure the kitchen maintains the standards expected in a 5‑star environment.
You will be part of a team that values consistency, good organisation, and a calm approach during busy periods. The focus is on contributing to a well‑run kitchen, supporting the chefs on shift, and helping deliver dishes that reflect the quality and style of AX The Verdala.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in managing kitchen operations to ensure smooth service during all meal periods.
- Prepare and cook high‑quality dishes according to standards and menu requirements.
- Support the Sous Chef and Head Chef in supervising and guiding kitchen staff.
- Maintain food presentation standards to ensure consistency and excellence.
- Always ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations.
- Assist with menu development by contributing creative ideas and culinary innovation.
- Manage multiple orders efficiently in a fast‑paced environment.
- Monitor stock levels and communicate needs to the Chef team.
- Support training and development of junior kitchen staff.
- Maintain a clean and organised workstation in line with kitchen standards.
Requirements:
- Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, kitchen operations, and food safety standards.
- Ability to manage and support a team during service.
- Experience in a fast‑paced kitchen with the ability to handle multiple orders.
- Creativity and passion for culinary innovation.
- Experience in a 5‑star or Forbes‑rated establishment is preferred.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in the same position.
- Fluency in English; additional languages are an asset.
