Job Summary
Join AX Construction as a Construction Manager and take ownership of the successful delivery of complex construction projects from inception to completion. Reporting to the General Manager, you will lead site operations, manage project teams and contractors, and ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on time, and within budget. This role is responsible for translating company standards into daily operational excellence while maintaining the highest standards of quality, health and safety, and client satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage multiple construction projects, ensuring delivery to agreed quality, programme, budget, and safety standards.
- Take full ownership of project budgets, monitoring commitments, costs, and variances while implementing corrective actions where required.
- Uphold Health & Safety standards across all sites, ensuring compliance with company procedures, legislation, method statements, and safe working practices.
- Coordinate effectively with internal departments, consultants, contractors, and third parties to ensure seamless project execution and communication.
- Plan and manage resources, including labour, materials, plant, equipment, and subcontractors, to ensure project requirements are met efficiently.
- Make timely and accountable operational decisions to resolve issues and maintain project momentum.
- Establish clear site structures, reporting lines, responsibilities, and performance expectations across project teams.
- Ensure adherence to AX Construction standards, quality expectations, and brand values across all project activities.
- Manage project programmes and critical paths, proactively identifying and mitigating delays to achieve agreed completion targets.
- Oversee project management, CRM, and reporting systems, ensuring accurate and timely project information is available for decision-making.
- Translate strategic objectives into practical site operations and measurable project outcomes.
- Lead, develop, mentor, and manage internal and outsourced teams, fostering accountability, collaboration, and high performance.
Requirements
- Minimum 8–12 years' experience within the construction industry, including at least 3 years leading multi-disciplinary teams or managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrated track record of successfully delivering construction projects valued at €20 million or more.
- Proven experience managing both internal teams and outsourced subcontractors.
- Degree or Master's qualification in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Recognised Health & Safety certification with a strong commitment to enforcing safety standards.
- Working knowledge of Quantity Surveying, Quality Assurance, Quality Control, project management systems, and CRM platforms.
- Solid understanding of local construction methods, standards, and practices, particularly masonry construction.
- Possession of a valid Local Skill Card is considered an asset.
- Strong leadership, organisational, planning, and decision-making capabilities.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal teams.
- Systems-oriented mindset with strong commercial awareness and a focus on continuous improvement.
- Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating accountability, resilience, and attention to detail.
