Job Summary
AX Care is looking to hire a Pool Attendant to support the safe and efficient operation of our hydrotherapy environment. This role plays an important part in creating a calm, secure, and well‑prepared space for physiotherapists and clients, ensuring that every aquatic therapy session takes place in a clean, organised, and professionally supervised setting. The Pool Attendant will assist with pool preparation, client monitoring, and basic safety procedures while maintaining high standards of hygiene and care.
Responsibilities:
- Always maintain client safety in and around the hydrotherapy pool.
- Monitor and enforce pool rules and departmental regulations in a calm, professional manner.
- Perform continuous client surveillance, ensuring safe participation during therapy sessions.
- Assist physiotherapists by preparing the pool area for various activities and supporting patient needs.
- Record daily participation numbers and complete required activity reports accurately.
- Set up and organise pool equipment, ensuring everything is stored safely after use.
- Respond to emergencies confidently and activate EMS when required.
- Handle incidents according to First Aid training and departmental procedures.
- Clean and hoover the pool when necessary, maintaining hygiene standards aligned with Maltese legislation.
- Disinfect pool areas as required, ensuring a safe therapeutic environment.
- Report maintenance issues promptly, including hydraulic system concerns or incorrect water temperatures.
- Collaborate effectively with physiotherapists and other team members to ensure smooth operations.
Requirements:
- Valid First Aid certification; Lifeguard certification or willingness to obtain it.
- Basic knowledge of pool hygiene, safety standards, and infection‑prevention practices.
- Strong communication skills in English; additional languages are an asset.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond professionally to incidents or emergencies.
- Experience interacting courteously with clients, residents, patients, or the public.
- Experience monitoring and enforcing health and safety procedures is considered an asset.
- Previous experience in a swimming pool, leisure, healthcare, hospitality, or recreational environment is an advantage.
- Flexible availability, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
- Commitment to high levels of customer service and patient care.
- Adherence to company grooming standards and time & attendance policies.
- Must be able to perform any additional duties assigned by management.
