Behind the scenes with Charlene: Focus, Resilience and Growth at AX Group

3 min read • Inspiration

For Charlene, Personal Assistant to the Director for Hospitality and Care, no two days are quite the same. Her role places her close to the heart of the business, where organisation, adaptability and a calm approach help keep things moving.

“My journey with AX Group has been a very rewarding one. I’m proud to be part of an organisation where people, professionalism and development are genuinely valued. My time with AX Group has helped me grow both personally and professionally, while also building strong relationships along the way.”

Making a difference behind the scenes

What Charlene enjoys most about her role is knowing that the support she provides makes a difference to both the team and the wider business.

“I like bringing structure to busy schedules, solving problems and helping things run as smoothly as possible. I also work well under pressure and enjoy the fact that no two days are ever quite the same.”

Finding focus through photography and sport

Outside of work, Charlene is a mum, photographer and a runner.

Every part of her life has helped shape the way she approaches both her career and everyday life.

Photography gives her the chance to slow down, be creative and notice the smaller details, while running has taught her resilience, discipline and consistency.

“Running became a way for me to clear my head and reset during some challenging periods in my life. It helped me manage anxiety and discover a level of resilience I didn’t realise I had.”

Motherhood has also given Charlene a different perspective, teaching her patience, balance and the importance of being present. She describes it as the most important role in her life, and one that continues to shape who she is both personally and professionally.

“Being a mum is, of course, the most important role in my life. It has taught me patience, perspective and unconditional love. Together, all these experiences have helped me become a stronger, more grounded person, both at work and in my personal life.”

A moment of recognition

One of the proudest moments in Charlene’s career came when she received the Chairman’s Award.

“Receiving the Chairman’s Award was a very special and humbling moment for me. It meant a lot to have my work, effort and commitment recognised in that way.”

For Charlene, the recognition was also an opportunity to reflect on her journey so far and the people and experiences that have contributed to it.

“Most of all, it gave me even more motivation to keep growing and giving my best.”

Finding balance by being present

Balancing a busy career, family life and personal interests is not always easy. For Charlene, organisation helps, but being present is just as important.

“Whether I’m at work, with my family or doing something for myself, I try to give that time my full attention. Having a strong support system and setting clear priorities makes a big difference.”

Looking back, she is proud not only of her professional achievements, but also of continuing to grow across all areas of her life.

“Finding a way to raise my family while continuing to pursue my career and the things I’m passionate about is probably what I’m most proud of overall.”

Charlene’s advice for building a career at AX Group

For anyone considering a career with AX Group, Charlene’s advice is simple: stay open to learning and make the most of every opportunity.

“Don’t be afraid to take on new challenges or step outside your comfort zone. If you’re prepared to work hard and keep developing, it can be a very rewarding place to build your career.”
