Active listening allows us to develop relationships, build trust, strengthen teamwork, and deliver better service. In care environments, it means understanding emotions and responding with empathy. In hospitality, it’s about noticing what is unsaid, anticipating needs and observing the smallest details. In construction, focused listening improves safety, coordination, and teamwork. Within office and administration teams, careful listening strengthens collaboration and helps colleagues understand each other’s challenges and find better solutions together.

Is it possible to develop active listening? Absolutely! Here are some tips to help you advance this skill:

Be present. Put distractions like your mobile phone or laptop aside and give your full attention to the person you are speaking with.
