Job Summary
We are looking for a meticulous and motivated Head Housekeeper to lead our housekeeping team at the Verdala Wellness Hotel - AX Privilege. The ideal candidate will have a passion for maintaining exceptional standards of cleanliness and organisation throughout the hotel, coupled with excellent leadership and communication skills. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the housekeeping department, ensuring guest rooms and public areas are consistently immaculate and meet our high standards. You will also play a key role in staff training, inventory management, scheduling, and fostering a positive work environment that promotes teamwork, efficiency, and attention to detail.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage the housekeeping department, ensuring that all guest rooms and public areas meet the highest standards of cleanliness and presentation.
- Develop and implement cleaning protocols and procedures to ensure consistency and efficiency across the hotel.
- Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, public spaces, and back-of-house areas to ensure adherence to quality standards and address any deficiencies promptly.
- Manage inventory of housekeeping supplies and equipment, including ordering, stocking, and controlling costs. Ensure that supplies are sufficient to meet daily operational needs and guest requests.
- Provide leadership and guidance to the housekeeping team, including training, scheduling, and performance management. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations, including the proper use of cleaning chemicals and equipment. Maintain a safe and secure environment for both staff and guests.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as front office, maintenance, and guest services, to coordinate housekeeping efforts and support overall hotel operations.
- Handle guest requests and concerns related to housekeeping in a professional and timely manner, striving to exceed guest expectations.
- Monitor and evaluate housekeeping operations regularly, identifying areas for improvement and implementing best practices to enhance service quality and efficiency.
Requirements:
- Extensive knowledge of housekeeping operations and standards.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to create and manage staff rosters effectively.
- Proven experience in delivering on-the-job training to housekeeping staff
- Excellent leadership skills with a focus on team motivation and management.
- Ability to conduct regular inspections to ensure cleanliness and quality standards are met.
- Experience in a similar role within a 5-star hotel environment and/or a Forbes Travel Guide-rated establishment is preferred.
- A minimum of 2 years' experience in the same position is required.
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with staff and other departments.
